Wudaokou
Wudaokou, literaly having a meaning in Mandarin as the fifth level crossing of the Jingbao railway, is a neighborhood in the Haidian District, located in northwest Beijing. Haidian is home to China's most famous schools such as the Beida (Beijing Univestiry) and Tshinghua University (engineering school also known as the MIT of China) and University of Science and Technology.
Wudaokou became a commercial and science center during the 2000's. Techonology companeis like Microsoft, Google are also located in Wudaokou. The neighborhood developed fast after the opening of technology parks that allowed global technology companies tax incentives, human resources and access to the most brilliant minds of China due to close proximity to best schools in the country.
Wudoukou is home to an immense number of international students. The neighborhood is almost 10 kilometers from the city center and has good transportation options including the metro and busses.
The neighborhood is not ideal for visitors interested in tourist attractions but business visitors sometimes prefer to stay in Wudoukou if they are visiting the major universities or global and local companies located in the technology parks.
